Anyone would play the game they love if they could. Dontrelle Willis is one of those players.
In early April (originally reported by the Long Island Ducks), Willis signed with the Long Island Ducks of the Independent Atlantic League with the hope of regaining the form that once made him one of the best pitchers in the National League.

When Scott Kazmir made his first start of the season against the Houston Astros it wasn't pretty.

Staked to a huge lead, he coughed up six runs in just over three innings, walked three and struck out four. Not exactly what you'd expect after posting some great numbers in spring training.

While the NCAA and the Road to Omaha get all the collegiate baseball press, the NAIA is top notch baseball with a tournament of their own that begins Thursday May 9. Lewiston, who is hosting the event for the 22nd time, has seen 777,904 people come through the turnstile for an average of 1,984 per game.

Toronto Blue Jays: Aberration or Reality

As of May 1, the Toronto Blue Jays are 9.5 games out of first place. At a quick glance this may not be the worst thing you’ve ever seen, but considering the hype surrounding this team, it might as well be.
The addition of Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, Josh Johnson, R.A. Dickey and Melky Cabrera were supposed to be the final pieces to the ultra-competitive AL East puzzle.

Kazmir looks to improve results, takes mound against Royals

Last Saturday we saw Scott Kazmir take the mound in an MLB game for the first time since 2011. And what we saw was nothing short of scary.
For me to sit back and criticize is not right. I’ve endured brutal experiences on the mound and completely understand the feeling you get when you work so hard for something have nothing to show for it.

The Independent Atlantic League has made some adjustments to the rules to speed up the game and boy did it work out.
According to Penn Live, the changes include;

    Expanding the strike zone
limiting non-pitching change visits to the mound for players and member of the coaching staff
90 seconds between innings and only 12 seconds between pitches

No-hitters and perfect games have to be the most difficult feat to accomplish in the game of baseball. And when a big-time NCAA Division 1 school has tossed eight (four combined) in their history and none in the last 20 years, you know its something special.

Tony Davis’ road to Toronto goes through Dunedin

In early March I interviewed Tony Davis, only a few months after he was signed to a minor league contract by the Toronto Blue Jays.
The signing of a left-handed specialist doesn’t get much press in the grand scheme of things, but these are the type of transactions that every team needs to make to become successful.

There is nothing quite like thinking about the glory days of Major League Baseball. When it was America’s pastime, talked about in the same sentence as apple pie, and names like Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays were already considered two of the best players the game has ever seen.

The D-Train is either running out of steam, or is just about to leave the station. I’ll choose the latter.
Dontrelle Willis is a former 20-game winner, was the 2003 National League Rookie of the Year, and was one of the most charismatic pitchers the game has ever seen. He had a smile that could light up a room and his excitement could be felt throughout the ballpark.

The Toronto Blue Jays home opener drew an impressive 48,857 to Rogers Centre. Sportsnet also drew the highest Blue Jays audience in the network’s history, with nearly 4 million people tuning in at one point or another.
