After an outstanding week of pitching for the Pensacola Pelicans, Bryan Rembisz was named the Poinstreak.com American Association Pitcher of the Week. Rembisz collected wins over Shreveport-Bossier on July 6th and El Paso on July 11th. The Clinton, Connecticut native has only given up one run off nine hits while striking out 12 batters in his last 13 innings of work.
Yesterday, Rembisz tossed seven shutout innings against the El Paso Diablos only giving up four hits while fanning a personal season high eight batters on the evening for his second win of the week.
On July 6, Rembisz threw six solid innings against the Shreveport-Bossier Captains, only allowing one run off four hits while striking out four on the night. Opposing batters are hitting just .160 against Rembisz. The quick working righty has only walked two batters or less in each of his last six starts. The 5’8 165 pound right-hander has won three of his last four starts to improve to a 3-2 record and lower his ERA to 3.68 on the season.
He is the second straight Pelicans pitcher to win the weekly honors this season. Dane Devalk won the award the week before.
Offensively, Derek Schermerhorn of the Sioux City Explorers was named Pointstreak.com American Association Player of the Week. Last week, Schermerhorn was hitting .471 with 16 hits and 11 runs batted in.
Pointstreak is the official statistician for the American Association.
