Last night’s run was truly something special. With each step, I experienced the true power of a healthier lifestyle. Not only did I conquer over 5km which in itself, is alright. BUT it marked a significant personal achievement—17 months of sobriety. As I received the notification during my run, a wave of pride and gratitude hit me, propelling me to complete a 9’20” split—by far, the best split I’ve had in over a year. And proved my old man body could still do it!
This moment served as a powerful reminder that hard work pays off. It reinforced the idea that when you put in the effort, progress becomes obtainable. The absence of alcohol in my life has not only contributed to a holistically healthier mind and body but has also given me a sense of confidence and drive to push my limits.
As I ran, I embraced a sense of calm. And above all else; clarity. I realized the incredible impact that sobriety has had on my journey. It has provided me with a clearer perspective on my goals and next steps to make positive changes in my life; personally and professionally. We’ll get into the professional piece on our next Wellness Wednesday. The commitment to a healthier lifestyle has allowed me to engage and embrace a newfound determination to ignite CHANGE.
