Go Daddy is returning to Super Bowl XLIV, which is being broadcast by CBS on February 7, 2010. Go Daddy has purchased two 30 second spots, thus making it six consecutive Super Bowls in which godaddy.com is being spotlighted.
“I’ve always believed in making quick decisions, but this one was a no-brainer given our history, especially coming off last year’s ad which ranked as the Super Bowl’s Most Watched,” said Bob Parsons. “Most Web companies pulled the plug in ’09 due to financials. And every year people say Go Daddy can’t top the previous year — every year we prove them dead wrong!”
Neither side has been forthcoming in speaking about the cost to run this years ads, but if it is reminiscent to last years, then they are looking in the $3 million range. As well, if this year’s ads come close to last years record revenue stream and new customers it generated, than the millions they are spending are indeed worth it.
According to the New York Times, advertising participation is being closely watched because of the recession and the effects it is having on all businesses. CBS reportedly said that 65 percent of ads have been sold for this year’s annual celebration, though that number is down from the 85 percent sold this time last year.
Danica Patrick has been a mainstay in the previous three Super Bowls commercials, and according to Parsons, this year will likely be the same. Speaking of similarities, advertising conglomerates like Anheuser-Busch InBev, CareerBuilder, Frito-Lay and Pepsi-Cola are also returning.
