Saints and SPIRE come to terms
The St. Paul Saints and SPIRE Credit Union have come to terms on the name of the Saints ballpark. Come September, CHS Field will be home to the Saints and the support from the community continues to grow. The eight year agreement between the Saints and the areas the most recognizable credit union, is a win win for both companies. Barnstormers sign ex-Jay
British Columbia’s Mike Crouse has signed with the reigning Atlantic League champion, Lancaster Barnstormers. Crouse has spent the last seven years within the Toronto Blue Jays organization, the same team the drafted him in the 16th round of the 2008 MLB June Amateur Draft from Centennial SS. Never known for his power, the 6’4, 215 lb. outfielder is a menace on the base paths. In 508 games, he’s swiped 129 bases, only getting caught 44 times. A career .240 hitter, he does own a .407 slugging percentage. Manager, Butch Hobson, whose son played with Crouse over the years in the Jays organization, is looking forward to working with his newest recruit. “Mike is very talented and was a prospect in the Blue Jays organization,” said Hobson. “He is big and strong, plus he runs really well. He’s going to be a valuable outfielder for us.” Internationally, Crouse has been a part of some of the best Canadian teams assembled. He played in the 2008 World Junior Baseball Championship and was named to the tournament’s All-Star team. Crouse was also a member of the 2011 Baseball World Cup team that won the bronze medal, and the gold medal winning squad at the 2011 Pan American Games.
