Celebrating the Grind of Independent BaseballThis Wellness Wednesday, I’m excited to share that we’re in the process of selecting our 2024 All-Indy Team; 3rd Edition.Independent Baseball is more than just a game for these players—it’s their dream, their passion, and their fight to keep that dream alive. These athletes didn’t get drafted, missed their window, or were released from affiliated ball. They don’t play in front of 50,000 fans or make millions, but every single pitch, every at-bat, and every play is a chance to catch the eye of a scout and earn that elusive affiliated contract.Their resilience, determination, and love...

Punk, Parenthood, and Purpose: Ray Carlisle on Music’s Unexpected Impact

In this Wellness Wednesday feature, I had the pleasure of speaking with Ray Carlisle, vocalist and guitarist of Teenage Bottlerocket. It wasn’t just another interview; it was a chance to delve into the unique impact that music can have on people’s lives — including my own. We will touch on that in a bit. Teenage Bottlerocket hails from Wyoming — a detail that often piques curiosity, as it’s the least populated state and perhaps not the first place one imagines as a punk rock hotbed. Completing the July Mile Challenge This Wellness Wednesday, I'm excited to share that we finished the July Mile Challenge with a total of 100 miles. Back in January, we were sitting around 50 to 60 miles a month, but there’s been obvious consistent improvement.  Whether it's through tracking progress or altering distance and time, July marks the first 100-mile month since about three years ago.  It's a cliche, I know, but with a strong mind and a plan for ensuring your body recovers, you can achieve anything.  https://youtu.be/9cskAeQNUMk

Recently, I had the pleasure of receiving another great note, this time from an MLB free agent who I've known for some time.Over the last little while the conversation switched to transitioning from the game to life after baseball. I was able to assist him in making informed educated decisions. This approach not only garnered his trust, but also facilitated his future planning. He expressed his gratitude for my guidance during this pivotal time. Again, not taking the place of his agents, lawyers, etc... I provided an unbiased perspective on what could happen next, not only in his career, but life....
