The office of the Commissioner of Baseball has announced that it has suspended two minor leaguers in the Tampa Bay Rays Organization.
Outfielder Franklin Alcala and pitcher Carlos Orasmo have each received a 50-game suspension after both of these players tested positive for metabolites of Nandrolone, a performance-enhancing substance, in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
The suspensions of these two players are effective immediately.
Each player involved is part of the Rays Venezuelan Summer League team. At the present date, Alcala was batting .086 while Orasmo was 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA in six games.
