The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball has announced that Washington Nationals minor league pitcher Stephen Englund has tested positive for an amphetamine, a performance-enhancing substance, in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
Englund has received a 50-game suspension that will take place immediately. Currently he is a member of the Nationals Gulf Coast League team. Englund who hails from Bellevue Wa, was the teams second round (70th overall) pick of the June 2006 First-Year Player Draft, has a 0-0 record this year, recording four strikeouts in just under three innings of work.
