As previously reported, Global Spectrum is now in control of the Memphis Redbirds Foundation, who was previously under ownership by Blues City Baseball. Spectrum, hired to manage the Memphis Red Birds of the Pacific Coast League and operate the team’s home-field Auto Zone Park has added two additional pieces to its front office.
Derek Goldfarb has been named assistant general manager and director of sales and Adam Goldberg as the team’s new director of marketing.
More recently, Goldfarb was involved in the Advertising/Sales Department at Global Spectrum’s Wachovia Center, in Philadelphia Pa. While there, he sold advertising and sponsorship opportunities for the Philadelphia Flyers and Philadelphia 76ers. These organizations are both part of Global Spectrum’s parent company Comcast-Spectator.
In Goldfarb’s new role, he will oversee all of the advertising and sale opportunities at AutoZone Park and for the Redbirds organization. Additional responsibilities include overseeing all duties of the Group Sales Department and Season Ticket Sales Office. Goldfarb has been a part of Comcast-Spectator since 2003, selling tickets for the 76ers organization.
John Page, Global Spectrum’s chief operating officer commented on the addition, “Derek is a dynamic salesman with a high level of enthusiasm and creativity,” said Page.
“We will rely heavily on Derek to create, implement and develop new and exciting campaigns for our fans and our sponsors in Memphis.”
Adam Goldberg, who has spent the last three seasons as the marketing manager for the Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League, has been appointed as the team’s new director of marketing.
“Adam’s experience in minor league hockey will be a tremendous advantage to us in Memphis,” said Page. “He has the ability to generate creative and exciting opportunities for media partners, sponsors and the fans, and we are excited for him to begin to implement some of his ideas for the Redbirds.”
During Goldberg’s tenure with the Phantoms, he was credited with creating the promotions for the Flyers minor league affiliates.
