As I mention quite often in my posts, a constant is one thing that the independent league is not. The carousel of players, draft holdouts, and the immediate need to boost attendance through endless ever-changing promotions….
In a business model, that caters to family entertainment, in a crowded market place, one regular in the Frontier League has been Deputy Commissioner and General Counsel Kevin Rouch.
Since 2001, Rouch has been wearing a number of hats; outside counsel for numerous clubs, working with two league teams, the Zanesville Greys, who became the River City Rascals in 1999, the Chillicothe Paints as the play-by-play announcer and his Commissioner position.
“I will certainly miss my day-to-day involvement with the League,” Rouch said. “It has made great strides since its founding in 1993 and has become, in my opinion, the pre-eminent independent league in the country. In particular, I’d like to thank Commissioner Bill Lee and President Rich Sauget for allowing me to serve in my post during these exciting times. I am lucky to have made so many friends around the League over the years and I look forward to being a fan and supporter in future seasons.”
In addition to his other duties, Rouch who is leaving his position to focus on his law practice, has also served the Frontier League in other capacities; General Counsel, webmaster, team liaison, operations director and publicist.
The work and time that he has spent is something, current president, Bill Lee will not soon forget.
“I will miss Kevin tremendously. I cannot say enough about his contributions to the League in his nine years. Not only has he been a great Deputy Commissioner, he has become a great friend. He will forever be a major part of the success of the League and will always be a part of the Frontier League family. I want to thank him for everything and wish him the greatest success in the future.”
