Motivation Beyond Recognition: Fueling Change
After a humbling moment of recognition for my efforts in mental health and wellness, I’ve been reflecting on what motivates me. While receiving an award is an honour, that’s not what this is about.
What motivates me goes beyond tangible recognition. It’s the possibility that my work, my words, or even a single post might ignite a spark in someone. Perhaps, somewhere, someone sees what I’m sharing and finds the courage to seek help, to initiate change in their life, or simply to feel less alone in their struggle.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Our actions, our advocacy, our sharing—they all have the potential to reach someone in need at just the right moment. The idea that what we share could be a factor in someone else’s journey toward wellness is a feeling that is hard to describe.
I ask you, what motivates you? Is it personal growth, the desire to help others, or something entirely different? My ask is to share and inspire one another, remembering that our motivations, big or small, contribute to something bigger.
